On Sunday, November 19th, my grandpa was severely injured in an "accident" caused by the negligent actions of "Alternative Property Management." My grandparents were having storm-damaged trees removed. The employees of the company who were there (Erik Herford, Jordan Adkins, Donald Cochran, Corey Keller, and James Maiolo) failed to clear a safe zone, cut any branches off the tree before they cut it down, and they failed to top it off.
While they had it roped off, my grandpa was expressing his concerns about this huge tree not falling properly - and it didn't.
This tree was over 100ft long- It crushed the house, demolished their screened in gazebo, and struck my grandpa. My mother and grandma were in the house when it fell it; my father was outside and barely missed being crushed.
My grandpa has been in the hospital since, with a broken patella, tibia, hips, ribs, scapula, and thoracic vertebrae fracture. He's been through hip and tibia surgery already, with more tibia surgery to come. Plus months of rehab.
The tree company has stopped returning our calls and is not insured for damages/accidents like this like they claimed.
Thankfully my grandparent's home repairs are going to be covered by their homeowner's insurance; but their medical expenses for my grandfather's surgeries, hospital stay, life-flight, and expected rehabilitation and therapy costs are quickly overwhelming us.
I have set this up due the requests of generous and wonderful people wanting a way to donate and help our family. Any donation would help with the deductable cost for my grandfather's medical expenses for this year and next year, along with the rehab costs.
