A few days ago, my father had a serious accident while working on a small construction project at our home in Guatemala. He fell from a scaffolding and suffered a severe open fracture in his left arm. The worker who was helping him also fell and broke both of his legs.

My father is currently stable and waiting for surgery to reconstruct his arm. The hospital requested an initial payment of Q5,000 (around $650 USD), and the total cost for surgery, hospitalization, and recovery could reach between Q40,000 and Q50,000 ($5,000–$6,000 USD).

I’m currently in the United States while my family is in Guatemala, and being far away during this time has been very hard. My father is a humble, hardworking man, and a faithful member of our church. He has always done everything he can to take care of our family and to help others when they were in need.

We’ve always tried to handle our challenges on our own, but this situation is beyond what our family can manage. I’m opening this GoFundMe to invite friends, family, and anyone who feels moved to help support his recovery.
