This summer, Edwin Cammack had the joy of celebrating his 60th anniversary with his wife, Marie Cammack. They celebrated this occasion surrounded by their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. However, their joy contained an underlying sombre tone as Edwin gave the news of much-needed double bypass surgery with the aortic valve replacement for himself.
Edwin's heart surgery was just before thanksgiving. The surgery had minor complications and lasted longer than the anticipated 7 hours. As a result, he is in a prolonged recovery for over a month when he was initially supposed to be home within 3-10 days. He has had to relearn how to walk, talk, swallow, get dressed and do other daily functions.
This holiday season is the time of year when families gather to take comfort in our homes with our loved ones, but this year, Edwin has been in a rehab center working hard on recovery. The new goal is to be home by the end of this month.
The extra recovery time and stay at the rehab center have taken a mental and financial toll. As one could expect, many additional expenses come with a month-long stay between a hospital and rehabilitation center.
We would invite you to help address their needs in a couple of ways.
Edwin holds dear any prayers that are said interceding on his behalf. Pray for sleep, comfort and continued recovery.
We invite you to help ease the stress of the additional expenses, up to $7000 that he has incurred, which was a number the family was not anticipating.
The family and Edwin thank you all for your prayers during this difficult recovery time for him. He appreciates it very, very much.
Thank you and Merry Christmas and happy new year!
