Meals for The Haven: Helping Charlottesville’s Unhoused
Spende geschützt
Hey everyone!
I’m one of the pledges this semester for Alpha Phi Omega (APO) at the University of Virginia—a co-ed community service fraternity built on the values of leadership, service, and friendship. Each semester, our chapter dedicates over 2,500 hours of service to the Charlottesville community.
As part of our pledge process, we are tasked with organizing, fundraising for, and participating in a service project to benefit the greater Charlottesville area.
This semester, our pledge class has chosen to support The Haven, a multi-resource day shelter and housing resource center in downtown Charlottesville. The Haven serves individuals experiencing homelessness by providing meals, showers, computers, clothing, and housing assistance programs—helping them on their journey out of homelessness.
For our project, we will be preparing and serving healthy lunches for 60–70 individuals, covering the cost of fresh groceries, and spending time with guests during their meal.
As you can imagine, providing nutritious meals for so many people is a major expense, so we are fundraising to help cover the cost of groceries.
We are estimating costs to be around $1,000 for groceries. If you are able to donate any amount of money, we would be incredibly grateful for your support in making this project possible! Every contribution makes a difference.
