Period Product Drive

Support Lakehead Philanthropic Association, a student-led philanthropy club located at Lakehead University, in raising donations for their 2nd Period Product Drive. Our president, Chelsea started this drive after her visit to the Shelter House to drop off donations from a non-perishable item drive she organized; while she was there, the workers expressed such gratitude for the few packages of pads explaining that they were always in dire need of period products and explained how many people come to their shelter seeking these items. A few weeks later, Chelsea launched our first "Period product Drive." Our first drive donated over 7000 period products to shelters across Thunder Bay and was a huge success; after seeing the impact we could make, we relaunched our campaign this year! Period poverty is an issue that impacts 1 in every 5 Canadians leaving 500 million people without the products they need. This year we have partnered with a small business, Get Only, a women-owned small period company selling 100% organic products where we will be using all monetary donations to purchase products. This year our goal is $200 in monetary donations - this will allow us to provide another 50 people with period products and let them bleed with dignity. We have also launched a campaign in partnership with the city councillor, Shelby Ch'ng, to address the issue of period poverty and start the conversation through educational videos and talks with community members.
