Hi everyone,
This isn’t easy for me to write, but I’m reaching out because I need help.
Recently, I went to court to fight for my girls to stay in North Carolina, where I finally have a stable home and a teaching position for the last three years locked down. Unfortunately, despite my efforts, the court ruled in favor of my daughters’ father, citing "greater stability" on his part—mostly due to my having to move a few times after rent increases priced me out of my homes. The final ruling was that he would have custody during the school year, and I’d have the girls for breaks and summer.
However, there was one option to keep 50/50 custody: I’d have to move within 30 miles of his home.
Without hesitation, I decided I would do whatever it takes to be near my daughters. They are my world.
Right now, I have them with me—he’s already moved to Alabama—and I’ve had them for the past two months. I have no help besides myself and I am struggling. I need to come up with the cost of a moving truck, a deposit, and first month’s rent. I don’t get paid over the summer, and I’m beyond overwhelmed.
The bright spot in all of this is that I’ve already secured a teaching job at a charter school near the new location—one that pays year-round and offers more stability for our future. I just need help getting there.
If you feel called to contribute, I would be forever grateful. Every little bit helps. And if you can’t donate, even a share can go a long way in helping me get down to Alabama and stay close to my girls.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for supporting this exhausted mom who just wants what is best for her children.
With all my heart,
Kelsey
