Mays Family Adoption

Before Brittany and I were married, we both shared dreams of one day having a family that would reflect the heart of Jesus to the world. Our dreams not only included raising biological children to know and love God, but to be willing to step into the adoption process as well. Believing God was calling each of us into adoption and seeing His faithfulness through the years of our lives, we both knew the time would come when God would affirm moving forward with adoption.
We believe that time is now.
In the book of Genesis, we find a beautiful example of God's faithfulness in the life of Abraham. When God first calls Abram to leave his land, his people, and his family, God also promises to bless him. But moments later God reveals an important principle about His blessing, "I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing."
God blesses Abram so that he will be a blessing to others.
Having been blessed with eight healthy years of marriage and three biological children added to our family, we are walking forward into adoption believing God's desire to bless our family is not only for us.
For varying reasons and personal connections, we have began pursuing adoption through Choosing Hope Adoptions here in Springfield.
This is where you come in.
We cannot do this alone. And we don't believe God has called us to do this alone. Having such a strong social support from family and friends alike has been pivotal for our marriage and our family thus far, and we believe this is even more true for this journey.
Please pray.
Pray for the adoptive mother. Pray for the adoptive child. Placing a child for adoption is one of the most traumatic and holistically devastating decisions a to-be mother could make. No matter the reason, no matter the circumstance, pain and hardship will be present in every adoptive story. We serve a God whose desire is to redeem the ugliest and most dreadful of situations and we believe it is His heart's desire to do that in adoption. But please, intercede and beg God for this to happen both for the mother and the child.
Pray also for our family. Being married isn't easy. Raising children isn't easy. Adding an adoptive child will not be easy.
Please give.
The average cost of U.S. adoptions is EXPENSIVE (between $40,000 and $50,000). Because Choosing Hope believes so strongly in healthy adoptions, they work really hard to mitigate the costs for potential adoptive families. However, the financial cost is still high (about half of the average U.S. cost).
