Hi everyone,
My name is Max Gao and I am a high school student based out of Toronto, Canada, with a huge passion for sports (tennis, figure skating), writing and photography—passions that I've been lucky enough to combine in the last few years.
Since 2014, I have shared my passion for the sport of tennis, and later figure skating, on Twitter, frequently posting about it all-year-round and any pictures that I take at any sporting event that I attend. This year, I was able to attend four tennis events as a member of the media after facing years of rejection due to my age, which was a transformative experience that not only pushed me to improve my writing and photography but also gave me a greater appreciation of this workforce. With that being said, since I did a lot of my work this year for the sole purpose of giving fans on social media a behind-the-scenes look at some of these big events, I was not compensated for any of it, which was the only downside as I am trying to save as much money as I can right now for my post-secondary education and my passion projects, which include the sports writing and photography that I've been doing for the last few years.
This is why I am asking for your help.
In order to continue providing the free content that I have always worked tirelessly to produce, I need some help to cover some of the expenses that inevitably come with the work that I do.
Any donation would help, and I would be forever grateful for any help that I can get to support the work that has become one of my greatest passions. All the funds will go straight to covering some of my expenses (e.g. photography equipment, transportation to events, event tickets if I can't get a media pass, etc.), as well as part of my post-secondary education that I hope to complete while continuing to pursue my passions.
I don't usually like to ask for help, but I believe that this is one of the only ways I can continue to do what I love without it incurring a huge additional cost that will end up taking away from my post-secondary education. In addition, it will be able to help me advance one of my possible careers while getting the chance to thank everyone for their support thus far in the process.
