Maureen's Treatment & Treats

Donation protected

My mom, Maureen Giandinoto, was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in April 2021. I know how much people want to help when they hear that a loved one is in need, so this is a place where everyone can pitch in.

After moving to Oregon less than a year ago my parents now find themselves needing to focus on medical appointments and all the bills that add up. Her oncologist is located in Bend, which is 2 hours away, and many appointments will require a hotel stay to be near the clinic and ready for early morning start times.

The funds raised here will help with treatment related costs including hotels, gas as they drive 4 hours round-trip to appointments, food when they are in Bend, and whatever other needs arise.

If you know my mom, you know she's a ball of energy. She's an avid geocacher, rock painter, and music listener. She loves birds, gardening, camping, baking, road trips, and visitors. Have you tried her egg salad sandwiches while sitting outside a theater? Or maybe you've enjoyed her delicious pasta primavera? She also bakes amazing banana bread and cookies. She's thoughtful and giving and brings joy to many people. She adores her grandchildren and always has fun things planned.

Unfortunately, cancer is already taking a lot of her spark away. She isn't sleeping well, she is dealing with a lot of pain, and she doesn't have any energy. My hope is that once treatment starts she can begin to feel better, but of course along with chemo can be side effects. We'll just have to take it one day at a time!

Any extra funds will be put towards treats to help my mom get through the hard parts and bring a smile to her face. Maybe she can get healthy meals delivered to relieve the burden of cooking from my dad, or pay for admission at the local hot springs. We've already purchased and delivered a recliner to her thanks to many friends and family who stepped forward to contribute, and there will be more things that will bring her comfort and she'll wish she could afford. You can help with that.

Dealing with cancer is a huge undertaking and a long difficult journey. It's impossible to do it alone. My mom has been a huge support for me ever since Hadley, her youngest granddaughter, (my 7 year old) was diagnosed with leukemia. Now it's her turn to feel supported by her community. We may not be close enough to drop off groceries or keep her company, but we can send love in this way, and it will be so very appreciated. She loves her family and friends fiercely, and is always willing to help. This is our turn to help her and my dad as they navigate this new road.

Thank you, and please share with anyone you can think of who has had the pleasure of knowing Maureen/Mo/Grandmo!
