Matthew Hong Houston Marathon-American Liver Fndn.

Tax deductible
Just about seven years ago, my grandfather, John B. Meyer, passed away from liver cancer at the age of 73. He began running marathons in his late 60s, completing New York and Boston multiple times, including surviving the 2013 bombings. He was always an inspiration for me in this way, and he supported me in the very beginning of my running journey in 8th grade before he passed. Something I have thought a lot about in the last seven years is how a man in such great physical health can fall ill to disease out of his control, and I want to help prevent that happening to others.

So, this January I am running the 2024 Houston Marathon both in his honor and as a capstone to my running journey so far. John was always a strong believer in charity, and founded and supported numerous foundations in his life. That is why I am choosing to run for The American Liver Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes liver health and disease prevention, and researches the preventions, treatments, and cures for liver diseases.

Please consider donating to my cause to help prevent more people from passing from liver cancer and other liver diseases. All donations go to the ALF, and I am extremely grateful for any and all donations!
