Masks for Indigenous Communities in Ecuador

Tax deductible
Want to join us in making a difference? We are raising money to benefit the twenty-four indigenous communities in the Quichinche parish of Ecuador, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us.

We are a group of Northeastern University students who recently traveled to Ecuador for a week-long service project during Spring Break. We lived and worked alongside the rural indigenous community of Gualapuro.  This project was facilitated by the Tandana Foundation that works closely with these indigenous communities.

These communities currently lack funds and resources to acquire the necessary protective equipment during the current COVID-19 pandemic.  The Tandana Foundation is seeking to raise funds to obtain masks and materials needed to make them. Many of the members of these communities have skills to make traditional clothing that can be used for the production of masks. This will serve to stimulate their local economy and sustain their way of life amidst these uncertain times.

More information about The Tandana Foundation: The Tandana Foundation is based in Ohio and works in Ecuador and Mali. Our Mission is to support the achievement of community goals and address global inequalities through caring intercultural relationships that embody mutual respect and responsibility.

Here are some pictures of us in the Gualapuro community.
