Sewing Masks for Healthcare Workers - Boston

Donation protected
Two weeks ago, a friend who works at a major Boston hospital put out a call for people to sew masks for the staff, as there is a severe shortage of PPE masks during the COVID-19 outbreak. I started immediately putting my sewing skills to work, and delivered the first batch of masks to her at the hospital the next day!

Some people are cutting up t-shirts to make their own masks, as these are desperate times. Our beloved healthcare workers should not need to worry about fashioning their own masks! I am using 100% cotton fabric, with a HEPA filter inside that can be removed so the mask can be washed and re-used. The filter greatly increases the efficacy of the mask. (This is the type of mask requested by Cambridge Health Alliance, my local hospital system, where I am donating the masks.)

Many have asked how they can help in this effort, if they do not have the skills to sew. Please consider making a donation, in any amount, for the supplies and materials that go into making the masks. I'm so glad I can put my skills to good use, and do something concrete to help out our beloved healthcare workers in this time of crisis! Thanks for your generous contributions.
