Masks for Milwaukee's First Responders

Mara Vignjevic, of "Mara's Sewing House", in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin is a small business owner who has been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.  Even though she has had to shutter her doors, she and her talented crew have decided to use their time, energy and talents to give back to the community! 

Using what remains of her limited money and resources, Mara and her team of 8 sub contractors have been working tirelessly from their homes to sew masks for local hospitals as well as police and fire departments. 

To date, Mara's Sewing House has donated 50 masks to the South Milwaukee Fire Dept. and 150 masks to District #4 of the Milwaukee Police Dept.  She plans on delivering another 150 masks to MPD District #5 this upcoming Monday when she and her team complete their next batch.  She has been asked to sew another 1,500 masks by the remaining districts of the Milwaukee Police Department.

Mara is running out of materials in order to keep up with the demand.  She has been funding everything herself, completely out of pocket.  Since she and her team members are unable to work, her resources are being depleted.   Not only is she giving to our first responders, she has also been donating masks to cancer patients and the elderly - again, completely free of charge.  She just mailed out 10 masks to a person who lives in Las Vegas who works in the medical field.  Mara refuses to take any money for these masks, whatsoever.

Please, consider donating to this fund to help with the shortage of masks which are a necessity for our first responders, the elderly and and our immunocompromised community members.  She has expressed that she does not want to profit from this, she just needs enough to cover her costs.  Mara plans on sewing at least another 2,000 masks @$2.00/mask.  As a result, I am hoping to raise at least $4,000.00 to help Mara's Sewing House meet that goal.  These funds are needed, immediately in order for Mara to be able to order the necessary materials.  She is getting numerous requests, daily and cannot keep up with the demand due to limited resources.

Mara has given so much to family, friends and the Milwaukee community over the years.  She has helped countless individuals in every aspect of their lives so that they, along with their families, have been able to succeed and thrive.  On a personal note, she has been an amazing family friend who has been like a mother to me.  Now is the time to give back to Mara!  I know that she and the people that she'll be helping will truly appreciate your generosity!  THANK YOU!!! #SmallBusinessRelief
