Mary Rosa

My name is Ashley Rosa, my mother Mary Rosa suddenly passed away October 2nd, 2023 surrounded by family and peacefully in her home. Mary was born on the Island of Faial, Aźores - Portugal. She came to the United States at the age of 3 with her Mother, Maria Rosa, Father, Joe Rosa, and her two brothers. After a short time of relocating, they found their forever home in Ferndale, Ca where she went to school and made so many friends that still care for her to this day. Mary’s two brothers passed away at ages 11 and 16 due to enlarged hearts, her father passed away in 2009 at the age of 73. Even though she has experienced so much loss, she still found the best in everything. Mary was a mother to two children, Ashley Rosa age 31 and Andrew Rosa age 27. She was also a grandmother to Greydon, Delilah, Jackson and Braylon. There was nothing she enjoyed more than being a grandma.

The last 3 years she suffered from many health complications and moved in with her mother Maria who is 80 years old. They enjoyed the company of each other. Mary had a learning disability growing up that affected the way she processed and understood information. She developed liver disease from uncontrolled diabetes which progressed to cirrhosis 3 years ago. With the help of her doctor and family she began to control her diabetes losing 200+ lbs over the last 3 years. Unfortunately, a month ago her cirrhosis progressed to liver failure, she also had internal bleeding issues and severe aortic stenosis. On Thursday September 28th, 2023 we decided to place her on Hospice so we could bring Mary home. To be surrounded by the ones she loved most, and to be comfortable in her home. We had no clue that only 4 days later she would leave this world. To us it felt so sudden, but I know that God had a plan for her and she is now with her Father and brothers.

Unfortunately, no prior arrangements were made. The thought of passing frightened her so we didn’t speak about it. Both Mary and her mother lived on limited income, and I have 4 children myself. I have most of the funds from myself to give her a proper service and funeral like I know that she would have wanted. I am always the one wanting to help others and so was my mother, so as much as it hurts me to ask, if you are able to donate to help put Mary to rest, our whole family will forever be grateful. You can either make a donation through gofundme or if you would like to contact me for other arrangements please reach out.

A service will be made and the date will be updated as soon as we have made arrangements.

Thank you to everyone who loves Mary. She loved all of her friends and family so much.
