Marlis Open Heart Surgery

Hi guys!

For those of you that don’t know,
My beautiful sister Olivia & her partner Baylee, welcomed their first born baby girl into the world December of 2018.

It was at their 12 week scan they discovered something was not right.
They were advised that little marlis heart had a hole in it, and closely monitored her throughout Olivia’s pregnancy.

3 days after marli was born, she was sent to the children’s paediatric ward where she would have her very first heart scan.
A few days after the appointment, they received a phone call to advise them they had found yet another hole in marlis heart. A ventricular Septal Defect (VSD).

They were then scheduled for monthly appointments to monitor these defects closely.
Each month at their appointments, marli would first be weighed and measured to ensure she was meeting the appropriate milestones. She would then proceed to have an ECG, her blood pressure taken and blood sugar levels checked, then proceeded to have a heart scan.

As the months went by, the doctors hoped the holes would fix themselves and close over. Unfortunately, they stayed the same. From here, due to the positioning of the hole (VSD) which is close to the aortic valve - they advised them that the valve had begun to leak. This came with great warning that in the near future it could begin to cause the aortic valve to prolapse and could become extremely problematic to marlis health and well-being.

She was closely monitored and unfortunately as months went by with great shock and heartbreak they were then told that their little marli would have to undergo Open Heart Surgery due to the aortic valve beginning to prolapse.

Marli is due to undergo her surgery in the month of April, and her and her family could use with our support.

I’d love to raise enough money for them to help relieve some financial pressure , so that both mum & dad can be there by marlis side while she is healing.

Marli will spend 7-10 days in Hospital and we are praying for a speedy recovery. Our girl certainly is a fighter! She will need close monitoring and 24/7 care for a minimum of 8-10weeks. Any help big or small would be hugely appreciated
