The years go by and they all look the same. Every new year we take the same resolutions as the past one. Quit smoking, eat better, be more productive, get into sport etc. and we actually do half of what we intended to, if not any!
* This year we have decided to make it different, to challenge ourselves, to have a real PURPOSE…*
Globally, millions of children live, sleep or survive on the streets because of conflict, crisis or poverty. BUT every child deserves the right to safety and to be empowered through education. That is why we have decided to join Street Child ’s «Right to Learn » campaign in Sierra Leone, a project providing education to some of the most vulnerable children in the country (and in the world).
HOW ? By participating in the Sierra Leone marathon taking place end of May.
People that know us might be wondering how we can sign up for a marathon if we are not exactly the sportiest women and have never really ran in our lives?
Sierra Leone marathon is much more than just a marathon! It is an incredible five-day adventure where we will explore Sierra Leone, meet the local population, learn about the Street Child initiatives and take part in different volunteering activities!
BUT yes on top of being Race Day Volunteers, we aim to run, most probably 5K (under 35 degree heat), which is already a big challenge for us.
Please help US to help THEM! With your help, we want to give Sierra Leone children a chance for a brighter future. The money raised by this campaign will be spent on Street Child’s initiatives.
Here are some example of what can be done with the donation:
10 euros: Street Child (SC) provides school supplies to 4 children
20 euros: SC is able to send a child to school for a year
100 euros: SC helps a family to start a business in the city, giving them the opportunity to sustain themselves in the long term
200 euros: SC pays the salary of a teacher for one year, providing education for a whole community
1200 euros: SC renovates a school in a remote area, furnishes it and provides educational materials

Los años pasan y todo se queda igual. Cada año nuevo nos planteamos los mismos propósitos que el anterior: dejar de fumar, comer mejor, ser más productivos, practicar deporte, etc. y en realidad hacemos poco de lo que nos proponemos.
* Por eso, este año hemos decidido hacer algo diferente, desafiarnos a nosotros mismos, tener un verdadero PROPÓSITO…*
En todo el mundo, millones de niños viven, duermen y sobreviven en las calles debido a conflictos, situaciones de crisis y pobreza. Pero cada niño merece el derecho a sentirse seguro y a ser guiado mediante la educación. Por eso hemos decidido unirnos a la campaña «Right to Learn » de Street Child en Sierra Leona, un proyecto que proporciona educación a algunos de los niños más vulnerables del país (y del mundo).
¿CÓMO? Participando en la maratón de Sierra Leona que tendrá lugar a finales de mayo.
La gente que nos conoce podría preguntarse cómo podemos inscribirnos en una maratón si no somos exactamente mujeres deportivas y nunca hemos corrido una maratón en nuestra vida.
¡La maratón de Sierra Leona es mucho más que una simple maratón! ¡Es una increíble aventura de cinco días en la que exploraremos Sierra Leona, conoceremos a la población local, conoceremos las iniciativas de Street Child y participaremos en diferentes actividades de voluntariado!
PERO sí, además de ser voluntarios el día de la carrera, nuestro objetivo es correr, muy probablemente 5Km (bajo 35 grados), que ya es un gran desafío para nosotras.
¡Por favor, Ayúdenos a Ayudarles! Con su apoyo, queremos brindar a miles de niños la oportunidad de tener un futuro mejor. El dinero recaudado por esta campaña se destinará a las iniciativas de Street Child.
Aquí están algunos de los ejemplos de lo que se puede hacer con estas donaciones:
10 euros: Street Child (SC) proporciona material escolar para 4 niños
20 euros: SC puede enviar a un niño a la escuela durante un año
100 euros: SC ayuda a una familia a iniciar un negocio, dándole la oportunidad de mantenerse a largo plazo
200 euros: SC paga el sueldo de un profesor durante un año, proporcionando educación a toda una comunidad
1200 euros: SC renueva una escuela en una zona remota, la amuebla y proporciona materiales educativos
