March for Serve On

On 14 March 2020 members of Serve On will be shaking off the winter cobwebs and raising money for the Community Resilience Team (CRT) by walking the Clarendon Way from Winchester Cathedral to Salisbury Cathedral (approximately 26miles/42km) and carrying a 50kg Ruth Lee rescue dummy for good measure. 

This marathon feat will be to try to raise funds for the equipment, transport and training the volunteers need to support the emergency services and local people in times of crisis, such as flooding or other severe weather events. The team are part of the Salisbury community and hope these efforts will help us be in a better place to serve our neighbours.

The CRT walkers may need all their severe weather training because the Clarendon Way in March can be ‘interesting’, with conditions ranging from sunny but brisk, to heavy rain or even snow, if the past couple of years are anything to go by.

They will be doing it because there is precious little statutory funding for the valuable work Serve On’s Community Resilience Team do and much of the charity’s efforts are made possible by money from the volunteers’ own pockets.
