Marathon & Coast to Coast cycle for MS

In 2015, at the age of 23 ,my sister in law was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. A condition with no known cure, only treatment which can at best slow down its progression. She copes with this with amazing strength, good humour and positivity. She refuses to give in to it despite it progressing at a rate much faster than we all hoped.

In order to try and raise awareness of MS, I am planning on running the Manchester Marathon in April. This also isn't enough of a challenge so in May, my dad and I are planning a bicycle ride from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hoods Bay in Yorkshire. Thats 200 miles, Coast to Coast, over the Lake District fells, the Yorkshire Dale’s and the North Yorkshire moors. The plan is to ride as many miles as possible off road, using public roads only where necessary to link bridleways and tracks.

Now to come clean. Yes, we will be completing this on full suspension ebikes. I know some will say it’s cheating but we still have to peddle them or they won’t go anywhere and we’re going to be doing the ride anyway, so , if we can raise a few quid while we’re doing it and also raise a bit of awareness of MS and how it affects people’s lives, then it’s all good.
