Manifest Destiny Staged Reading at The Tank NYC

Hi!

My name is Emma Y. Lai and I'm an emerging playwright/theatre director from Minneapolis, MN! I am moving to NYC in August and my first project there will be a staged reading of my play, Manifest Destiny, directed by Ashil Lee on August 11th at 7pm as a part of LimeFest at The Tank NYC. Manifest Destiny is a thriller that follows a five-person military team at a base at the bottom of the ocean during the American war on Asia. Laura, an Asian American and self-proclaimed pacifist, develops supernatural powers that allow her to do almost anything. With this power, she must decide what her place and responsibility are in the War--so she creates a humungous Sea Monster to help her make her decision.

Donations will go to support artist stipends! Artists put in 12+ hours to make a staged reading come to life and I would at least like to pay each of them $100. We have a 12-person team and will also receive additional funding through ticket sales. Feel free to reach out with questions!
