Picture it. You've booked the flight. You've made your reservations. It's the night of and you're wearing your fanciest clothes. You have front row seats, just like you were promised! You sit down, the curtain rises, the audience roars with applause, you turn to the person sitting next to you and you say: "I funded this show!"
...Alright, that was a rather dramatic way of putting it, but admit it: it's an appealing thought to you, is it not?
I'm Sam Wurdemann, and I'm here to talk to you about a little group of young actors and performers called the Churchill Theater.
Our story began six years ago (gosh, was it really that long?) with a little production of The Wizard of Oz for the kids on our street to show off to their family. Ever since we've only gotten bigger and bigger, and our efforts to improve have cultivated in the form of our original musicals.
Last year, I directed Spies The Musical in association with Merill Arts, with your help. This year, I'm back with another show, this one even bigger. And once again, I can only do it with your help.

Major Mayhem is another parody musical, this time tackling the Survivor Reality-TV genre, in a musical form that nobody's ever done before! Ten people earn the chance to win more money than they could ever dream of, completing incredible challenges, making friends (and enemies), and overall providing for you a fun time that you can experience in person if you live in the Twin Cities area, or on YouTube if you don't!
We have had nothing but support from the community over the years, and I can't thank you enough for it, but this time around, we can only hope that your efforts are even more gracious than ever before!
Again, we're only getting bigger, and our budget reflects this. We're looking to move to a brand new stage, with all of the technical equipment and amenities that we could ask for. We're upping our production quality in every way, from mics to cameras to having a LIVE BAND, etc., etc., etc.
Not only that, but we're producing our own costumes, our own sets, our own props, our own everything! And all of that exceeds what we currently have saved up... at least, it does if we want to make it as great as it can be.
Our primary concern right now as much as yours is the coronavirus, and allow me to say, our performance is planned for about three months from now and is running on the assumption that restrictions will have been lightened to such an extent that it will be possible to perform. However, I'm also making every effort to be realistic. As such, while we do have backup plans for if the show cannot be allowed to go on, those who wish to have their money refunded will be in entirety. This is, of course, only hypothetical, and if it seemed like this endeavor was highly unlikely, we wouldn't be doing it, to begin with.
All backers will be thanked in our playbill and in the performance video, and should we reach some of our stretch goals, you will also receive some extra benefits that I go over in the video!
Your support will make this project possible in the form which we want it to be, and I can't express how grateful the cast and I will be for your donations!
If you can't donate, please consider sharing the project around! Thank you so much for reading through, and I hope you can make it for one of our many productions of Major Mayhem!
