About Me
Hello! My name is Maggie and I'm a senior at NYU. I'm from a small town in central NJ with loving parents and an older brother. Since I was young, I loved to bike with my friends for hours around the neighborhood to local parks and shops. I didn't know my hobby would one day inspire me to bike across New England -- specifically from Maine to New York! What for?
The Cause
I'm participating in Bike & Build, a non-profit that organizes cross-country bicycle trips that benefit affordable housing groups such as Habitat for Humanity, Rebuilding Together, and more. According to the US 2011 Census, 40 million people in the US did not have the financial means to rent or own a home. In over ten summers, B&B has contributed more than $4.5M to housing groups. We hope to increase this contribution even further this summer.
How Can You Help?
I'm riding in the Coastal Drift group, where we'll be biking from Maine to New York for three weeks this summer, stopping to help build houses along the way. Each participant must raise at least $3,000 prior to the trip. Whether I raise all of the funds or not, whatever donations are made will be put towards the affordable housing cause. Please take a moment to donate as much as you are willing to to better the lives of millions of people in the US.* Monetary or otherwise, I'm grateful for any support that you'd be willing to offer, and I will keep you updated on my progress as my campaign and trip in June get underway!
