Maggie's cancer care centre (Newcastle)
Maggie's provides free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends.
The Newcastle centre have been monumental throughout my Mam's cancer journey. They've helped to pick her back up after countless rounds of chemo, surgery and recovery. They bring women together who are going through hell, providing group and one to one workshops as well as helping people to access additional funds and benefits when they can no longer work. Maggie's understands how difficult diagnosis and treatment can also be for the families and extend their support to them.
You can just turn up. Based right by the Freeman hospital (Newcastle) and other major cancer hospitals dotted throughout the UK. Their work is vital.
People currently travel to Maggies Newcastle from the Scottish borders down to Cumbria and they are hoping to expand their building so they can support even more people.
In March I'll be running the Liverpool half marathon to raise money for Maggie's to help them continue to help brave, strong women just like my Mam.
I know times are hard and there are lots of worthy causes out there but if you can spare anything at all it would mean the world to me and my family.
