When Hannah first came to me with the idea of doing a Birthday Fundraiser for one of RJ’s favorite charities I was just so touched and I knew that RJ would be so thrilled and happy.
Over the past many years we have been together, I have seen RJ grow from never wanting to own a dog, to a man dedicated to the care, comfort, and respect for all animals. Like many of us, he has been the recipient of the unconditional love, comfort and emotional support that comes from the responsibility of caring for a pet or animal.
As a result, RJ has increasingly become dedicated to supporting many animal rights organizations and no-kill shelters, and often volunteers as a dog walker, and photographer for pet adoptions. Over the last few years he has been focusing on the specific need to care for, foster and adopt senior pets.
This came from a personal experience of first fostering, and then adopting our first “senior dog” Maddy. Maddy was an unexpected JOY in our life and while her time with us was short, her very being changed our life for the better, and that Joy has remained with us since. We have welcomed another senior dog, Coco, into our life, and the results have been the same — joyful, touching, and blessed.
Over the last serval months, I had been working on the establishment of a small non-profit, who’s purpose was born from my husbands efforts, and I wanted to help by finding a way to focus his (now our) efforts to actively engage and promote the organizations, adoption, and care of senior pets — as many are discarded when they are no longer a puppy or when they become to expensive to take care of.
A large number of pets in shelters are not adopted because of their age, and at a time in their life when they are most ready, willing and able to give their owner unconditional love, company and comfort. We know this from personal experience, in that we discovered a new way of living — one based on empathy, patience, respect and love — for both pet and owner.
And it is with that focus that I created “MADDY’S PLACE’, and for all those who want to take this journey with us- THANK YOU, and please join. This gift will be just the beginning, and we look forward to continuing to share with you the goals, actions and activities of Maddy’s Place.

30th January is RJ Sebastian's birthday, and this year I have teamed up with his hubs, Jake Jaxson, to launch the first official fundraiser for 'Maddy's Place'. This foundation will use its funds and resources to find loving homes for older pups, so the golden chapters of their lives are filled with the warmth and love of a forever home. The unconditional love given by dogs is a cause close to both RJ and Jake's hearts, and they both feel it is a love everyone should have the chance to both experience, and give to these wonderful animals.
We all know this is a mission so dear to RJ. He often posts advertisements for older four legged friends looking for their families later in their furry lives. So Jake has been working towards setting up the 'Maddy's Place' foundation to make this dream a reality. To funnel money and time into making sure as many pups as possible find their human soulmates in this world. Maddy was such a special Princess, and we all still feel her loss from their lives, but she brought so much light into this family we love. So in her memory, together we can help launch this special charity and have her legacy live on, and help other's in the world experience the kind of joy Maddy brought her humans.
