What is going on in Madagascar? (click here to watch the video)

In response to the recent disastrous events that have happened in Madagascar, the US Diaspora in Action has been created with the goal of raising money as soon as possible to help Madagascar recover from these events.

US Diaspora in Action, through its strong network of volunteers and partners, is always there in times of needs. We aspire to turn compassion into action that all affected Malagasy across the Island will receive care, shelter, food and hope.

The proceeds will go directly to the Bureau National de Gestion de Risques et de Catastrophes, Madagascar  (scroll down to know more about how US Diaspora in Action is working with BNGRC******). As soon as the funds are sent to Madagascar, a periodic report will be sent to the donors about the actions that have been taken.

The US Diaspora in Action contributes to alleviate the suffering of Malagasy people in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the Malagasy community in USA and the generosity of friends and humanitarian groups/associations and donors.

We have the fundraising under a personal name as we do not have a non-profit status yet. US Diaspora in Action has been up for a short term and as we all know, requesting a non-profit status will take time. The bank account where the funds are going to is a joint-account with three cosignees from the US Diaspora Committe. At any time, you (donors or potential donors)are welcome to request an official statement of the account. The official statement will be sent through our official e-mail address: [email redacted]

Since this is a case of emergency situation, our goal is to gather funds as soon as possible for our homeland. In the meantime, we are working on applying for a non-profit status.

If you are in the DC Metropolitan Area, our first event will be held this Saturday, March 7th at the Christman Crossman United Methodist Church from 4pm to 7pm (See flyer below).

At anytime, please e-mail us (as individuals, organizations, etc...) if you would like to participate or have any suggestions regarding helping Madagascar.

******About the Bureau National de Gestion de Risques et de Catastrophes  (BNGRC):

BNGRC is the official entity empowered by the Government of Madagascar to manage the disaster assistance in case of natural disaster. Donors/NGOsother non-profit organizations and/or associations  are working jointly with the BNGRC to manage all assitances received from donors - funds, food or non food items.

BNGRC coordinates the assitance WITH donors on how/where/when to use the monies/non monies. A report is given to all members on a weekly basis or depending on the frequency of the physical assistance.

Donors must  monitor  how the distribution goes and report back to all members with data/figures, and if necessary with pictures and testimonies from the direct beneficiaries. (This will be done by the US Diaspora in Action and reported to you)

** This description will be updated according to the events and decisions **

Please fell free to contact us at [email redacted] if you have any questions or concerns.
