Help Keep Our Family Together

To the Northwestern community,

My family has been hit with the unfortunate news that both my mother and father are facing the possibility of deportation in immigration court. Although my parents have never been convicted of any crimes and have always worked hard, the current tumultuous times are cruel to everyone. To fight my parents’ long-term legal battle against removal proceedings, we are urgently requesting any funds before their immigration court hearing. Anything will be greatly appreciated, and 100% of the funds will be used exclusively towards attorney fees.

Here is a little about my beloved family. My parents were born and raised in México and came to the U.S. over twenty-five years ago. Like many undocumented immigrants, they have been working for low wages and in unsafe environments at factories. They have always paid taxes and have never been convicted of any crimes whatsoever. Ultimately, they have established genuine, long-term ties to our community in Compton, California.

As I prepare to graduate later this week with various honors from Northwestern, I am thankful that I was able to make it this far because of my parents. They instilled in me a hard-working ethic and the strength needed to move forward in life despite obstacles. Similarly, my younger sister is finishing her high school degree soon. Additionally, Giovanni, my older brother, recently worked cleaning up the aftermath of the Palisades Fires and is now seeking employment at another infrastructure project.

In the hopes of keeping my family together, we welcome any monetary support as well as other forms of support as possible. My family hopes to continue working hard to pay immigration attorney fees, but the total costs are currently overwhelming our working class family. Still, we are hopeful that the immigration attorney willing to represent my parents is a trusted advocate for undocumented communities in the Greater Los Angeles area. No matter what it takes we hope to remain together as a family.
