LYRC - Arts Funding for Youth Mentoring
Tax deductible
At Life Youth Resource Centre [LYRC] we provide a positive safe space for young people to express themselves, improve their well-being and develop their potentials.
We aim to achieve this through the following 3 Pillars of LYRC.
FAMILY SUPPORT
One to One Mentoring - Counselling Therapy & Advice - Group Workshops
ARTS WITHIN
Performing Arts - Music - Dance
SPORTS
Boxing
As a result of the Pandemic there has been increased pressure on the family unit with members suffering from trauma, domestic abuse, unemployment which has caused many other negative affects on family life.
We currently support young people aged 8-18 years old the Mentoring Program.
In addition to the young people's mentoring we also provide a much needed support for the parents through Counselling Therapy & Advice. Each family is provided with a family support worker who works directly with the parents and also they attend digital weekly Therapeutic sessions. Support can include money management, time management, anger management, addressing challenging behaviour, health and wellbeing advice.
In the Summer months LYRC has been able to identify further opportunities for the families by facilitating a "time away" from the hustle and pressures of city living with all its other challenges. On this residential, they are helped to re-focus and bond as families. This space included a time to learn and develop strategies to equip them with tools for family challenges and make progress. It also help parents to develop relationships with their children and build support systems and contribute to their own local community.
We are aiming to raise £35,000 in order to enable us to offer this well needed resource to more families and for sustainability.
