Lyla and Landon's Education Fund

Within one year, two children lost their father and mother to illnesses. Their grief started when they suddenly lost their father, Jeff, to Covid at 44, on April 5, 2021, one day after Easter. Then their mother, at the age of 45, my friend, Alicia, fought a long and challenging battle with Aplastic Anemia and Metastatic Cancer. Her struggle ended Tuesday, April 19, 2022, two days after Easter, when God called her home. Her children, Lyla 13 (7th grade) and Landon 11 (5th grade) have battled alongside Alicia.

 

 

But they have been blessed with family and friends who love and support them through this difficult time. The family is trying to maintain some consistency with other areas of Lyla and Landon’s life, including their Christian education, which would also enable them to benefit from the support of their classmates. This was Alicia's primary concern, but it’s a difficult financial challenge for their Uncle Kevin, guardian, and their grandmother, Diana, to achieve.
 
If you feel led to support Alicia’s wishes by helping the children maintain their current education and possibly post-secondary education, the family would be greatly appreciative.

 

 

I have gotten to know Lyla and Landon from teaching them at church and having them over to play with my children throughout the years. Alicia and her children have become like family to me. As I came to know Alicia, I saw how she instilled Christian values in her life and her children’s lives and incorporated them into their education. She worked in the field of education as a Speech Pathologist and was loved dearly by all her elementary students.
