Loving Husband and Dad Loses Four Year Battle
Spende geschützt
On April 18th 69 year old Pedro Castañeda, father & husband lost his fight to the endless hospital visits that his life consisted of. In 2016, he was sent to the hospital's intensive care and little did we know that he would never come back home. His health deteriorated quickly from loosing his eye vision, to depending on an oxygen mask to be able to breathe, to getting dialysis done because his livers failed him, to taking almost 12 different medications a day, we knew we were loosing him slowly. With having so many complications, we had no choice but to rehabilitate him into a nursing home so they could keep up with all of his needs. We knew that he would go crazy in it if we didn't visit him often, he loved his family til the end.
Having a 16 year old daughter at the time and a wife, being the head of the house, was his main priority and being in the nursing home made him feel disabled and as if he had failed us. He would always apologize for letting us down but he only made us stronger and showed us how to keep on. He did everything he could to keep up with his family regardless, hiding his pain and keeping a smile everytime we visited. He always made sure his family had the essentials, even in the nursing home he kept trying to get involved.
He lived up to know that his daughter is in college, his biggest concern. He always wanted to secure her future and be the biggest support. With COVID-19 going on, we (daughter &; wife) were forced to stop visiting him at the nursing home as all nursing homes were mandatory on isolation by the state, for safety purposes. We were not able to see him after March 25th. Two weeks into isolation, his ability to breathe worsened and was sent to St.Francis hospital where he spent his last days. Due to being so attached to his family, he could not stand the isolation due to the virus and couldn't keep on with his depression and passed away. We complain about this two month quarantine and he had been quarantined for the last four years of his life ..
This is a really tough time as not only we grieve the passing, but we are broken as we couldn't be there for him in his last moments. With COVID-19 going on and not being able to work, funeral expenses was the last thing we were prepared for. We can't even give him the proper goodbye as with the virus going on, only 10 people are going to be allowed to be at his service. Making this sooo much harder .. Although Pedro's health was fragile, it was completely unexpected and sudden. Please consider helping out the family through this difficult time as we try to move forward and heal from the lose we are experiencing. All donations will be directly sent to his wife, Susana Orozco as she prepares for his final goodbye.
