Hi Facebook Family and Friends! Adam and I are writing to share with you all our newest journey…the journey of adoption. While some of you already know, and some may have wondered, we have spent the last few years dealing with the pain and grief caused by infertility. It has been a long road, but one that has made us stronger and has led us to a place…we kind of always knew we would land;) A place that is allowing us to have a child through adoption.
Adam and I often spoke of adoption when we were dating, during our engagement, and also after we were married. We saw adoption as a part of our life…since we first started imagining our little family. It wasn’t until we learned of our joint fertility issues, that we learned that this was going to be the sole way we would have children. It was at this time, we learned what God’s plan was for the Mitchells. While we needed to take time to adjust to this path, we have come full circle…AND WE ARE THRILLED TO BEGIN OUR JOURNEY TOWARDS ADOPTION AND STARTING THE FAMILY WE HAVE ALWAYS DREAMED OF;)
As we mentioned above, we’ve both dealt with our own fertility issues, both causing difficulty in getting pregnant. We saw specialists, went through test after test, and eventually ended up with genetic testing. These results revealed that Adam had an extra chromosome and was diagnosed with Klinefelter’s syndrome. It is a syndrome that is most often undetected until trying to conceive. As we learned of this diagnosis, we decided to take the time needed to process, heal, and support one another. We put each other as priority and prayed that we would be guided through the pain, and land right where God wanted us. While this was a difficult path, we were pretty sure that since we both were wanting adoption from the beginning, and that is one thing that brought our souls together, adopting a child was where were meant to be all along.
So here we are, starting the journey towards adoption. It is our hope that we can share our love of adoption (we adopted our first kids, who happen to be our pups), music, nature, compassion, kindness, faithfulness and unconditional love with a child. Our family motto has always been, love others, and that is just what we intend to continue doing.
