Will and Louis 60KM Machu Picchu Trek

In October 2021, Will and Louis will be trekking the Salkantay trail to Machu Picchu in Peru to raise money for Theirworld.org

 

Theirworld is a children’s charity committed to ending the global education crisis.

 

We have picked out this charity specifically because it relates to our own personal experience we have encountered whilst traveling in South America. After being in South America for several months we have seen first hand the importance that children’s education has in order to counter global poverty.

 

For example, we spent 3 days in a small town in the Amazon Rainforest where we met locals whose children only go to school 2 days per week. This sparked our desire to raise money for Theirwold.org who help solve the complex barriers keeping children and young people from education and opportunity.

 

Machu Picchu is the most famous hike in South America and is one of the 7 wonders of the world. Our route will take 4 days, 3 nights and will consist of 60km of gruelling trekking. One day consisting of 22km of trekking! We will reach an altitude of 4,630m above sea level.

 

Each pound we raise will help young children from disadvantaged backgrounds around the world gain access to education and equipment.
