LORE ist mein zweiter Langspielfilm, den ich in diesem Sommer / Herbst 2026 in künstlerischer Freiheit und kreativer Zusammenarbeit mit den großartigen Schauspielern Eva Mattes als LORE, Roberto Ciulli als Patriarch GIOVANNI, Bibiana Beglau als ihre Tochter CARLOTTA und Robert Stadlober als ihr Sohn BRUNO, (weitere Schauspieler folgen in Kürze) und mit einem kleinen bewährten Team auf Low Budget Ebene realisieren will.
Der Wiener Kameramann Peter Roehsler, Nanookfilm wird mit mir, abadon production wieder koproduzieren und die Kamera führen, so wie wir zuletzt meinen ersten Langspielfilm SIN & ILLY STILL ALIVE (2015)

Karina Ressler ist wieder als Editorin dabei.
Wolfgang Rebernik kommt neu hinzu als zweiter Kameramann, sodass wir Szenen in wenigen und ununterbrochenen Takes drehen können.
Claudia Prommegger begleitet uns wie bewährt als Art Designerin für Website, Plakate, Werbung.
Dina Krasmann übernimmt das Produktionsmanagement und Sebastian Reuter das Sounddesign, beide haben schon in meinen Kurzfilm THE LAST BUS (2008) -> hier ansehen - mitgemacht.

LORE ist eine Tragikomödie einer Familie, in der der Tod des Patriarchen GIOVANNI ein Machtvakuum öffnet, das eine ungeahnt habgierige Anspruchshaltung seiner Kinder offenbart, gegen die Lore sich wehren muss, um nicht von ihrer eigenen Brut vernichtet zu werden.
Mit der Filmidee LORE habe ich 2022 auf dem Pitching Forum des FEST New Directors New Films in Portugal den Script Mentorship Award gewonnen.
Mit einem Neustart Kultur Stipendium von 5000 Euro der Beauftragen des Bundesministeriums für Kultur und Medien (BKM), Deutschland 2021, habe ich in den letzten fünf Jahren das Drehbuch zu LORE geschrieben, auf dessen Grundlage wir den Film gemeinsam erfinden und entwickeln werden.
Wir sehen uns nicht als "Drehbuchvollzugsbeamte", die unter den risikoscheuen Schablonen eines TV Senders oder einer rein wirtschaftlich orientierten Filmförderungsanstalt einen Film herstellen, der sich in ähnlicher Konsumform schon bewährt hat, sondern wollen uns ganz bewusst, die künstlerische Freiheit zunutze machen und einen anspruchsvollen Film in kreativer Zusammenarbeit finden und drehen.
Alle im Team und im Cast verzichten auf eine Branchenübliche Bezahlung und stimmen einer Low Budget Vergütung zu, die uns ermöglicht, den Film künstlerisch frei und in bester Qualität für das internationale Arthouse Kino zu realisieren und dabei auch allen Beteiligten den Lebensunterhalt im Drehzeitraum so zu sichern, dass wir konzentriert und entspannt auf höchstem Niveau arbeiten können.
Durch die großzügige und kostenfreie Bereitstellung von Equipment, Drehorten, Autos und den Verzicht auf Gagen mancher Teammitglieder gelingt es uns, ein realistisches Gesamtbudget auf etwa 150.000 € zu kalkulieren, wovon wir 75.000 € privat von Freunden schon zugesagt bekommen haben und jetzt noch 75.000 €, die Hälfte des Gesamtbudgets als Spenden hier zu sammeln hoffen mit eurer Hilfe.
Wir werden den Film auf alle Fälle machen, auch wenn wir hier weniger als die erhoffte Spendensumme erreichen, jeder Euro kommt an und hilft uns.
Wir sind auch schon mitten in der Vorbereitung (Locationsuche, Teambildung, Casting, Kameraproben)

Wir werden euch auch weiterhin regelmässig hier auf diesem Portal Einblicke in die Produktion bieten, sodass ihr in Videos, Setfotos Bestandsaufnahmen oder Anekdoten die sinnvolle Verwendung eurer Spendengelder konkret verfolgen und alle aktuellen Neuigkeiten erfahren könnt.
WARUM WIR EURE UNTERSTÜTZUNG BRAUCHEN
Mit der Tragikomödie LORE werfe ich Fragen auf über unser gesellschaftliches Mit- bzw. Gegeneinander in einem Wohlstand, der nicht genutzt, sondern oft missbraucht wird in der heutigen Erbengeneration und appelliere an eine gesellschaftliche Umverteilung des Reichtums
Unser Ziel ist es, den abendfüllenden Spielfilm LORE in kompletter Unabhängigkeit und ohne die Mitsprache von Fernsehanstalten oder wirtschaftlich orientierten Filmförderungen in künstlerischer Freiheit und kreativer Zusammenarbeit von SchauspielerInnen und Team zu realisieren und auf internationalen Filmfestivals, in Kinos und digitalen Plattformen einem breiten Publikum zugänglich zu machen.

Bonjour and welcome,
my name is Maria Hengge , and I am an auteur filmmaker based in Berlin.
LORE is my second feature film, which I plan to realize in summer/autumn 2026 with complete artistic freedom. The film will be created in collaboration with the wonderful actors Eva Mattes as LORE, Roberto Ciulli as patriarch GIOVANNI, Bibiana Beglau as their daughter CARLOTTA and Robert Stadlober as their son BRUNO (with further cast announcements to follow), alongside a small, trusted team working on a low budget.
The Viennese cinematographer Peter Roehsler, Nanookfilm will once again operate the camera and co-produce with me, abadon production just as we did on my first feature length film, SIN & ILLY STILL ALIVE (2015)-> watch the trailer here .
Karina Ressler returns as editor, and Wolfgang Rebernik joins us as second cinematographer, enabling us to shoot scenes in long, uninterrupted takes.
Claudia Prommegger will again be responsible for art design, including the website, posters, and promotional materials.
Dina Krasmann will handle production management, and Sebastian Reuter will oversee sound design; both previously collaborated with me on my short film THE LAST BUS (2008) -> watch it here .
Both films have screened at numerous international festivals, received awards, been shown in cinemas, and are available on streaming platforms such as Amazon Prime, Sooner, Microsoft, iTunes, and YouTube.

LOGLINE
LORE is a tragicomedy about a family in which the death of patriarch GIOVANNI opens a power vacuum, revealing an unexpectedly greedy sense of entitlement among his children- against which Lore must defend herself in order not to be destroyed by her own offspring.
With the concept of LORE I received the Script Mentorship Award at the Pitching Forum of FEST New Directors New Films in Portugal in 2022.
Supported by a New Cultural Start stipend of €5000 from the German Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) in 2021, I developed the screenplay for LORE over the past five years. This script will serve as the foundation for a collaborative creative process in which the film is continuously invented and shaped together.
We do not see ourselves as “script enforcement officers” who mechanically execute risk-averse templates dictated by television broadcasters or profit-driven funding bodies. Instead, we consciously embrace artistic freedom and aim to create a sophisticated film through genuine creative collaboration.
Everyone involved, cast and crew alike—has agreed to waive industry-standard fees and accept modest compensation. This allows us to realize the film with full artistic independence and at a level suitable for international arthouse cinema, while still ensuring a basic livelihood for everyone during production, so that we can work with focus, trust, and care.
Thanks to the generous provision of equipment, locations, and vehicles, as well as fee waivers by several collaborators, we are able to plan with a realistic total cash budget of approximately €150,000.
€75,000 has already been secured through private pledges from friends, and we now hope to raise half of the remaining budget here with your support.
The film will be made regardless of whether we reach the full donation goal or less. Every donation will reach and help us. Preparations are already well underway, including location scouting, team building, casting, and camera rehearsals.
In the teaser, you can already see early improvisations used to develop the characters—made possible by the generosity of Roberto Ciulli and Eva Mattes in sharing these very early insights.

WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
With the tragicomedy LORE, I raise questions about our social interactions and contradictions in a society where wealth is not used but all too often abused by today's inheriting generation. I advocate for a societal redistribution of wealth.
Our goal is to realize LORE as a fully independent feature film—free from interference by television networks or commercially driven funding bodies—through close creative collaboration between actors and crew, and with complete artistic freedom.
We aim to make the film accessible to audiences worldwide through international film festivals, cinema screenings, and digital platforms.
