Loray Runs Boston 2016

Tax deductible
When tragedy struck Sandy Hook Elementary School, in 2012, it was heartbreaking, especially for those of us in CT.  As stories of the children were released, one child's story hit me harder than the others.  It was the story of a kindred spirit.  A little girl who loved animals; Catherine Violet  Hubbard.
It took a couple of days for me to make the connection, but I realized that Catherine's father was my coworker.  This made her cause even more important to me.  Over the last 3 years I have been able to support Catherine's dream, by running The Reach the Beach Relay with my coworkers and fundraising.  This year, the Hubbards have given me the great honor of representing The Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation, while running the Boston Marathon.  Won't you please consider making a donation and helping to make Cahterine's dream a reality?

"Catherine Violet Hubbard was kind. A lover of all animals, she always made it a point to show them extraordinary compassion. Whether she was gently cradling an insect in her palm, or squeezing a furry friend in a full-bodied hug, all Catherine wanted these creatures to know, was that they could trust her to keep them safe from harm. Never exclusionary and always kind, Catherine loved all living things, unconditionally. She told us she that when she grew up, she was going to take care of the animals, and was so determined to make this dream a reality, that she even created her own business cards for “Catherine’s Animal Shelter,” with the self-appointed title of “Care Taker.”

Tragically, the 2012 event at Sandy Hook Elementary School cut short Catherine’s ability to see her dream to fruition.

Determined to honor Catherine’s memory, we created the Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation as a vehicle to enrich the lives of all beings through compassion and acceptance. Though Catherine is no longer with us physically, her pure and kind spirit continues to guide our thinking as we grow the Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation and work to create the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary. As an ever-growing, dynamic institution, our specific initiatives often evolve, however our current focus is on building a place where all creatures know that they are safe and that we are kind, just as Catherine would have wanted."
