Local Ukrainian Refugee Family Needs our Help

Hello there,

 

I am among a handful of local people helping a sweet Ukrainian family resettle here in Park Circle. A woman along with her daughter and mother fled on the 8th day of the Russian invasion leaving her father, a career, and a life behind in search for safety. After many bus rides, plane rides, and border crossings, this family was lucky to find haven with a generous family in Mixson.

 

Many neighbors have reached out and have offered beds, clothes, toys, etc. once they get settled. We are grateful and will take them up on these things in time. Their host family found them a permanent apartment that fits within their budget.

 

This apartment is just outside of walking distance of school (the little girl is in my son's class and is thriving), summer camp, the grocery store, and work (the woman has found 2 jobs locally). They are going to save up to one day get a car, but for now, a used golf cart would greatly help this family get to and from the necessities.

School is 2 miles away, work and grocery the same. Too far for the 8 year old and Grandma to walk... 40 mins and not the safest roads. 

 

Like many, I have been at a loss on how to help the Ukrainian people during this devastating time. Although it's not possible to help an entire country, we have an opportunity to make a difference in this Ukrainian family's lives.
