Living Our Best Life. Walk for Brody.

Donation protected
The Brody (Wood) Kenney “Sonshine” Legacy recognises that sometimes we may need a little extra support, and as such, supports children and families towards living OUR best life.
The Legacy aims to make a difference in the lives of young people & families by offering a range of scholarships to be used for school, study, sport, health, innovation or work opportunities.
Brody Wood Kenney, a proud young man with family lineage across Whadjuk Noongar Boodja, bravely commenced his journey with WA Police in Years 11 and 12 while studying at Prendiville Catholic College, determined to make a positive difference in bridging the gap between Community and Police. He then went on to work at Perth City and Mirrabooka Police Stations in 2022 and was awarded a WA Police Medal from the Aboriginal Affairs Division for his work and integrity. This now has become the foundation for the Cultural & Diversity Immersion Training (Perception Is OUR Truth) that is rolling out across WA Police.
Brody was an astounding young man who always pushed his family and friends to do better. Brody’s big personality, energy and banter had such a positive impact on friends, colleagues, family and the community. Brody represented WA in football and athletics, winning the WA Kickstart Championships in 2015 and was often known for saying we are “living OUR best life”. Brody was always known as a kind young brother, loyal friend and OUR Sonshine for many. He will be forever remembered for the highlights, the laughter, his love and having a zest for making everyone around him feel special.
The Brody (Wood) Kenney “Sonshine” Legacy has been set up to honour and continue Brody's determination to help young people and families to make good choices and actively participate in living OUR best life.
Living OUR Best Life - Walk For Brody will be celebrated on the first anniversary of his passing. All funds raised will be deposited into the Brody (Wood) Kenney “Sonshine” Legacy and Scholarship program.
The walk will commence from the grassed area to the left of the entrance to Hillary’s Marina opposite Hillary’s beachfront on Southside Drive. Registrations will begin at 3pm after which a Welcoming Ceremony will take place. At 3:30pm participants will make their way to Mullaloo Beach (1 hour), a secondary starting point for those who prefer a shorter walk. Registrations from Mullalloo will commence at 4pm for a 4:30pm start. Participants will then be asked to walk to the finish line at Mirror Park in Ocean Reef, Brody’s final resting place, where they can collect peppermint leaves and be part of the Sweeping/Cleansing Ceremony.
The event will culminate in a festive celebration with live music, food trucks and coffee vans. All good people are welcome to BYO a picnic and bring along some blankets and chairs to sit on. Something special will be announced at sunset at 6:30pm. The event will conclude at 8pm.
