Little NICU Soldier Arlo

Donation protected
Wow where to even start ... Many of you have asked how you can help; other than prayers so I figured I would make this page and share our story. Sophie and Luke welcomed their sweet baby boy Arlo (6 weeks early) on 24/01/20. However, they were not able to take him home. He was placed in the NICU and we didn’t realise then the struggle Sophie and Luke would go through as new parents. We are now 13 weeks on and this has been an emotional rollercoaster for all involved. Not only that Arlo has had many ups and downs one minute we think we’re on the right path then next he’s where he started again.  The situation got much worse when Arlo got very poorly at only 4 weeks old.  Arlo had got NEC which to me and you is a disease that’s only purpose is to destroy all the gut/stomach. While Arlo was very poorly with this, he ended up suffering with a severe cardiac arrest, leaving him with a major brain injury. A few weeks later we thought he won the battle of NEC but unfortunately we soon came to realise that it had left lasting damage to his gut, Arlo was then rushed to theatre and had a lot of his intestines removed. Recovery was hard Arlo was ventilated for 5 weeks on high doses of pain killer and now we have to come realise the operation didn’t work, he will never be able to eat or even start to have bottle feeds! Sophie and Luke have been told it is only a matter of time until we lose Arlo and there is nothing that can be done. Which is utterly heartbreaking. We would like second opinions to this condition, but as you can imagine this is very costly going private. My goal for this fund is simply to alleviate some of the financial burden that comes with a premature birth and unexpected hospitalization. This is not only an emotionally taxing time for the family but unfortunately a very costly one as well. If we raise enough maybe we could get those second opinions we long to hear from private professionals. Any funds may be used for either help towards a funeral, which we are praying doesn't happen and additional funds will be donated back to NICU who have looked after Arlo since the first day he came into this world. As family, you only wish you can do anything and everything for your own. If you could support me by making a donation and then sharing it with your network, I would appreciate it beyond measure. I know that money can be tight, so please know that anything helps! I really don’t know how Luke and Sophie are so strong during this awful situation.. especially with covid , but they don’t let it destroy them. Instead they raised funds and got gifts for other poorly children in hospital, over the easter break.  Let me know if you have any questions and thank you for continious prayers.
