Lisa Darling's Kidney Transplant

Hi friend.  Meet Lisa; a Loving mother, a Loyal sister, a Giving aunt and a Faithful friend to many. Her vivacious spirit, broad bright smile and welcoming demeanor has touched and changed many lives for the better, despite her relatively young age of 44.  She has always been willing to Give of herself and whatever she has, no matter how little.  Today, Lisa is in dire need of our Help and we Pray all who take the time to read this appeal, can and will Give to help defray the huge medical cost for her recovery.

September 30, 2014, changed the life of Lisa Darling as she knew it.  After weeks of feeling nauseous and being extremely fatigued, Lisa collapsed and was rushed to hospital and placed in a medically induced coma; she was diagnosed with end stage renal failure.  Dialysis was started immediately.  This was not Lisa’s first health crisis, as 6 years prior, she suffered a brain aneurysm, which placed her on life support for more than a week.  Miraculously, after spending a month in hospital, she recovered completely, to the amazement of her doctors. Based on their professional assessment, Lisa was clinically dead, but they had witnessed God perform a miracle.  It was clearly Divine intervention that brought her from the brink of death.

Now only 44 years old, she faces yet another health emergency that could potentially take her from family and friends.  Lisa has always been a fighter and after awakening from her medically induced coma, she knew to survive, she had to start dialysis.  After months of treatment, Lisa eventually got into the routine dialysis treatment at 4:00a.m. 3 times a week.  These early morning sessions allowed her to go to work on time at Treasure Bay Casino, as Cage Supervisor.  In 2016, she started the process for a kidney transplant, which began with the pre-op physicals.  Unfortunately, just weeks before her appointment at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Fl., tragedy struck Freeport - Grand Bahama Island, when on October 5, 2016, Hurricane Matthew pummeled the island, as a Category 3 - 4 storm destroying much in its path, including the Treasure Bay Casino – her employer.  Consequently, the casino ceased operations and released all employees.  Lisa lost her health insurance coverage.

Despite the setback, Lisa continued with her treatments and the hopes of being re-employed, so that she would be able to pay for the kidney transplant.  However, adhering to the rigorous dialysis treatments schedule, made it difficult for her to find employment.  Nevertheless, against all odds, things were going generally well given her circumstances, as God continued to provide for her and her daughter during this time.  On September 1, 2019, Hurricane Dorian ravaged the island of Grand Bahama and circumstances for Lisa changed.  She and her daughter – Raven, had to be rescued from their apartment to escape the storm surge which flooded her neighborhood, destroying everything, leaving them with only the clothes on their backs.  They were displaced for almost 6 months living with family members, while the apartment home was being repaired.  Upon completion of the repairs, Lisa settled back in her home, only to be challenged with deteriorating health, as all her dialysis access ports failed.  This situation was compounded with the fact that the only hospital on the island was completely destroyed by Hurricane Dorian; then the Pandemic Covid19 hit our island, which further challenged the already fragile health care system.  Lisa was admitted to the makeshift tent hospital being run by Samaritan’s Purse several times to address the issues with her access ports.  All efforts have been failing and Lisa is discouraged of ever living a normal life again. 

Her only hope at this time is to get the kidney transplant that would save her life.  The cost of the transplant and post medical treatment is approximately $250K USD; which may be an insurmountable challenge for her alone, but with God’s help and your generous Giving, Lisa will be saved!

We have watched Lisa struggle all these years, never once complaining, never once giving up.  She is still young at only 44 years old and has a preschool aged daughter who is depending on her to survive.  We are seeking the support of anyone who can contribute towards this life saving operation, allowing her to live a normal life once again.   No amount is too small, and your gift will be greatly appreciated as we try to reach the goal of $250K.
