Lily's Costa Rica Conservation International 2025

Hi! I'm Lily, I'm 15 and a Young Leader at Grange Guides, Cumbria South County. I've been selected to go on Girlguiding North West England's Journey to Zero Conservation international trip to Costa Rica! I will be staying for two weeks during summer 2025, most of which will be spent staying and volunteering at ‘Rescue Centre Costa Rica’ to help rescue, rehabilitate and release rainforest wildlife including sloths and exotic birds. The Journey to Zero aspect means we will have a focus on sustainability throughout the preparation and the trip itself in addition to the conservation work we will complete.

The trip will be my first chance to immerse myself in another culture and will help me develop a wealth of skills and grow immensely as a person. This incredible opportunity will be an utterly unforgettable experience. And the best part is, we will use our time there to conserve the Costa Rican rainforest and wildlife!
