Lilly & Ella's Garden Project

A single mum of two lovely daughters has been embroiled in red-tape and is at the end of her tether. She put her feelings out on social media and my husband, Terry and I decided she needed immediate help.

Her garden is unsafe for her girls to play in. Lilly is 9 years old and Ella is 5, and has Down Syndrome.

- she loves to play outdoors but can be very unsteady on her feet.

Mum, Gemma, has asked her Landlord & Local Council to help - but with every call she makes, she is told it's not their department and to try contacting someone else - each time resulting in the same - a dead end.

Terry and I decided action was needed and not just words. We visited her address and had a look at what needed to be done.

She had previously paid some money before we got involved, to two young builders (friends of friends), to resolve the issue, they dumped a tonne of sand and never returned. Ella is constantly trying to play on this sand!

As well as the abandoned sand, she has uneven ground, mainly due to tree roots from two trees that back onto her garden fence. They are clearly causing many structural problems.

We have spoken to local councillor Tom Sanderson who has been out to view the damage the Trees and we await a further response.

Once the trees are gone we will need to level off the garden, then we can lay Artificial Grass to make it nice and soft and safe under foot.

Where will your donation go? 100% of all donations will contribute towards buying tools & materials (Sand, Artificial grass, Wood, Paint, Stones or Slabs etc) to carry out this project and make 'Lilly & Ella's Garden' a nice, safe place to play.

We have a group of volunteers raring to go to help with all the labour but without the materials its a non-starter.
