Hi, my name is DeAnn Cox, and I founded the Jersey Gay Pride Festival in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. The Pride Festival occurs on the second Sunday of each year.
Year-round, Jersey Gay Pride provides community development to our LGBTQA+ residents. Our services include housing assistance, job readiness, a crisis hotline, referrals, resources, and a media outlet for nonprofits and local businesses.
In addition, we frequently receive phone calls, text messages, and emails from community members seeking aid for crises such as homelessness, domestic violence, grief, and suicide.
Jersey Gay Pride is fundraising $20,000 to allow us to purchase a vehicle to assist community members in getting OUT and being mobile.
Owning a community vehicle will allow us to extend our services to those who can use a helping hand. For instance, offering free and discounted transportation to LGBTQ+ disabled seniors, youth who are seeking mobile assistance to access crisis center, food, shelter, mental and physical wellness, and social affairs.
The money we raise for this campaign will go towards purchasing a used vehicle, tags and taxes, auto insurance coverage for at least six months to a year, state registration, and inspection as needed.
Here is a breakdown of the estimated costs to get our Pride Community Care and Crisis Car:
- Purchase of a Used Vehicle (including taxes and tags): $8,000 - $15,000
- Full Coverage Business Automobile Insurance Per Year: $2,000
- Registration: $200
- Branding: $2,000
Every dollar counts to help us get on four wheels to help spread pride across the Garden State!
