Lewis' wheels to freedom

Donation protected
Hello, we are 'The Preuss Family' and we are blessed to live in the beautiful county of Dorset. Our son Lewis (11) was born with an extremely rare chromosome disorder that affects him both physically and mentally.

One of the main things preventing him from enjoying the excellent sites and activities surrounding us is his mobility. Lewis has what we affectionately call "noodle legs", meaning he can only walk for a very short period, and the ground must be completely flat. To cover any distance, we need to use a wheelchair. The problem we face is that due to the small wheels on his "standard" wheelchair, we cannot push him over the amazing country trails that surround us without risking catapulting poor Lewis out of his chair because his wheel has got stuck on a stone. His everyday wheelchair can not cope with anything other than flat and dry concrete, so our adventures are very limited.

Today, we were fortunate enough to try out the most incredible wheelchair we have ever seen that is purpose-built for these activities. The Mountain Trike MT Push. We have never had such freedom and were able to take Lewis on a nature trail for the first time in a chair. He went up, and down hills, through woodland paths and for the first time, he gained FREEDOM to go off the concrete track.

We want to raise enough money to be able to buy one of these wheelchairs for Lewis. This wheelchair is an excellent investment to ensure that Lewis can share the full range of activities around here that many of us take for granted. It is adaptable, so the chair can be adapted with him as he grows older. Also, if Lewis wanted to propel himself at any point, we could add an electric motor to help him.

This wheelchair could enable us to adventure as a family, to go to all the places we have never been able to go to because of the accessibility. To partake in all activities as a family would mean the world to us and make us feel like we were a typical family. Lewis's life is pretty tough at times, and this would add a little piece of sunshine and joy and enable him to go to currently inaccessible places.

We can not thank you enough for taking the time to read this and helping us succeed in getting Lewis his wheels to freedom.

All our love
The Preuss Family.
