Let’s Sustainably Provide Pads to Ugandan Girls!

Lack of menstrual supplies and knowledge keeps girls out of school in Uganda. It also creates stigma, embarrassment, and poor health. 

When students access pads and menstrual health awareness, these problems are solved.

After an incredibly successful project of raising over $3,000 to provide pads to 800 school girls in February 2022, we are now looking toward the next step to make this project sustainable.

All donations sent here will go towards the next project and long-term solutions:

• Training and employing young women to create reusable pads

• Sewing machines

• Reusable pad materials

• More donations to schools

As a girl who only had access to old cloths until the age 20, I can understand how frustrating it is to not have access to pads. When I was in school, I was constantly stressed and afraid that something embarrassing would happen in class during my period. With time, I realized I wasn't the only one. Almost 90% of girls at my school were also using old cloths. Between the discomfort of these cloths and the fear of embarrassment, some girls would miss school during their period. We also did not receive any formal education about menstrual health, so it was hard to know how to go through our periods. Having faced these challenges, I know how important menstrual health is in Western Uganda, and that’s why we are starting this fundraiser. Together, we can help girls feel comfortable, keep them in school, and see them realize their fullest potential!
