Karin and Kristin: Sisters, IVF and Surrogacy
Most women don’t think twice about becoming a Mom, it happens easily and it’s just a natural part of life. But for many others it’s a difficult struggle and often times even impossible. I know, I’m one of those that couldn’t have a child. That’s why this cause means so much to me. I have some amazing nieces and nephews and I love them all more than anything in this world.
One of my nieces, Karin, has been on a tragic and heartbreaking journey to motherhood. She has experienced child loss, not once, but twice. She lost two baby girls in just 14 months. She lost Kamden at almost 20 weeks and Reese at 24 weeks. Karin has a rare blood clotting disorder, known as Factor II. Both times she was pregnant, her placenta developed clots that restricted the blood flow of oxygen and nutrients from getting to the babies. This was the cause of both stillbirths. After meeting with experts it was suggested she not become pregnant again as the likelihood of another stillbirth is high as well as risk of her own life. It was recommended to use IVF with surrogacy. Karin’s sister Kristin has generously offered to be the gestational surrogate. What an amazing blessing! Karin has also met her perfect match, Andrew, who will be joining her through this process.
IVF is a costly procedure which is not covered by health insurance. I am starting a GOFUNDME page to assist with the expense because I want to do everything possible to give Karin this chance and for this couple to expand their family. Please join me in supporting them. Any financial help as well as prayers during this time will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
