Let's Help Heather & Mario.

We have been watching our friends Heather and Mario, seen them work hard, their commitment to family, their love of Football (coaching and cheering on the Mississauga SMFC Renegades) and especially their love for one another.

2017 was a difficult year for them; Mario suffered a heart attack and it was scary but with their usual hard work and determination they got through it and Mario was recovering and back to work.  But in the spring of 2018 they were faced with another life changing challenge; Mario was diagnosed with Leukemia and had to start intense treatment right away.  But, did this get them down – no; they are tackling this battle with the same wit, humour and positive attitude that has always been their style.
 
If you are like me I have felt helpless because I can’t just pop over to drive them to appointments, drop off dinner or accompany them to long chemo appointments.  But we can all help with the expenses, healthy food, taxis, and stress management activities. If everyone contributes what you can afford together we can make a big difference in Heather and Mario’s current situation; we can take some of the financial pressure off their shoulders.

Although most of the medical and hospital costs are covered (thank you OHIP), there are so many other expenses -- such as transportation, non-prescription medications, meals at the hospital and so many little expenses.

I checked with Heather and Mario before I started this and it was my idea.  They would never ask us for help.  But friends help friends!
