Leo Fureys Bone Marrow Transplant in Ottawa
Spende geschützt
As many of you are aware, my dad is unwell and has been for some time. A few years ago he was diagnosed with Scleromyxedema, a very rare disease.
Scleromyxedema is described as an unpredictable disease, but is usually progressive, debilitating, and lethal in the absence of a successful treatment.
Well, it has been progressing and it is taking a toll on his entire body.
Unfortunately, the cancer treatment he is receiving here in Newfoundland is not bringing him back to normal health.
Luckily, he was just approved to go to Ontario for a complete Bone Marrow/Stem Cell Transplant.
The process will be long and painful for both he and his wife; who has been and will continue to be his support and companion while in Ontario and during the healing process.
My dad and step mom are expected to leave Newfoundland the end of October. They both have been off work this past year due to covid and the rapid decline of his health. With EI already maxed out, he is left with no other choice but to reach out to the kindness of friends, family, and the general public to help alleviate the cost of upfront travel, accommodations and financial relief for bills and transportation during the healing process when he arrives home.
This process could take up to a year as he regains strength and is able to get back on his feet.
I'm calling on my friends, family, coworkers.. every dollar counts. Together we can get my dad the help he needs and pray to God he comes back stronger, healthier and gets to do the things he loves to do again.
There's nothing I'd love more than to cast a rod with my dad next year or go camping like we used to.
If you can't donate and have it in your heart, please share.
Thank you
