Leighton Elementary Holiday Giving Tree

This fundraiser will be raising money to purchase the items left on St. Mary of the Assumption's Holiday Giving Tree. The tags are provided by Leighton Elementary School, and benefit children from low-income families with children attending Leighton Elementary School in Oswego, New York. Leighton and St. Mary's have been working together for about 10 years doing this project, but unfortunately with resolving hardships at the parish along with the pandemic, there haven't been as many tags taken this year.

The tags, as pictured, prioritize things such as winter coats, boots, and clothing - all of which are important here in Central New York with snow undoubtedly looming on the horizon. Unfortunately, there isn't as much time to do this as I'd like (we started late this year and they collect the tagged donations by December 21st), so I've set the goal relatively low in the hopes that I can cover at least two or more kids out of the remaining 4, and maybe get them some toys too if they have any listed.

This fundraiser is special to me because growing up in the Oswego School District, I saw plenty of kids who never had appropriate winter clothing. This year, with COVID cutting jobs and things getting ever more expensive, I would really like to make a difference and put a smile on the faces of these children for an otherwise rough holiday season.
