Lei of Aloha for the Children of Uvalde, Texas

Aloha.

Once again we are mourning the loss of children, innocents killed by gun violence.

We at Lei of Aloha for World Peace ask ourselves and each other, "What can we do? How can we help? Will a Lei of Aloha make a difference for anyone?" Then we remember our mission statement and we remember that weaving a mile-long ti leaf lei gives us and our community work to do with our shock, gives our hands and hearts a task to complete, gives us an opportunity to give of ourselves unconditionally and deliver the gift of ALOHA to a town that has been devastated by violence.

We remember the people from Orlando after the Pulse nightclub shooting; the children and parents from Parkland, Florida; the folks from Christchurch, New Zealand and from Las Vegas. They remind us that our lei is powerfully meaningful. And so we hope to do it again for the community of Uvalde, Texas.

Not everyone can volunteer their time or ti leaves to make the lei, so we create this Go Fund Me page to give folks who can give funds a place to contribute. These funds will be used to support our efforts to deliver the lei as a physical manifestation of the love and aloha from the people of Hawai`i. Woven into each part of the lei is the reminder that we are all connected, we are one.

Please give if you can and join us by making your own lei at home, with your safe circle of friends or join us at Nalu's South Shore Grill where we will be collecting everyone's lei to connect and where we will send our delegation to present the lei along with a Hawaiian blessing, and Anthony Pfluke and his beautiful song, Lei of Aloha.

Please follow Lei of Aloha for World Peace on facebook. Mahalo!
