Today, we call upon the global community to rally behind lesbian families under attack in Italy. We're not just challenging a policy; we're defending the fabric of what makes a family and the inalienable bond between parent and child.
We stand at a crossroads. The foundations of family and justice in Italy are under siege. The far-right government's policies have struck at the very heart of lesbian families, erasing non-birth mothers from their children's birth certificates. This move doesn't just strip away a title; it infringes upon fundamental parental and children's rights, casting dark shadows on the future of over 30 lesbian families, while more are expected to be targeted all over Italy.
Immediate Consequences:
- Children can't be picked up from school by their non-birth mom.
- Their rights to participate in educational activities are jeopardized.
- The families face barriers in traveling.
- Critical healthcare decisions, from routine flu shots to life-saving surgeries, lie in the hands of just one parent.
But it's not just about lesbians. This wave of hate starts with lesbians, but the ramifications will ripple through all rainbow families, and every queer & trans person stands at risk.

- Judicial costs to demand the reinstatement of mothers on birth certificates.
- A potential appeal to the European Court of Human Rights, should the need arise.
- Other judicial costs related with adoption procedures.
- Miscellaneous expenses vital for this arduous journey.
All proceeds will be sent over by EL*C – the EuroCentralAsian* Lesbian Community to Famiglie Arcobaleno, the Italian LGBTIQ+ families organization that will provide judicial assistance to the affected parents. EL*C will keep you informed on the advancements of the legal proceedings, and we will specify how your contribution has supported the fight of lesbian mom. Some legal proceedings are already taking place while we expect more to start in September 2023. Every penny you contribute will be diligently allocated to protect and champion the rights of these mothers and their children.

EL*C - EuroCentralAsian Lesbian* Community is a lesbian, feminist and intersectional network in Europe and Central Asia, dedicated to bringing together and fighting for the rights of lesbian, bi, pan, queer women (cis & trans) and non-binary persons. EL*C is collecting the funds, all proceeds will go to the lesbian families, with the help of Famiglie Arcobaleno.
