LeDura Watkins - Exoneree Fund
Donation protected
Mr. LeDura Watkins was sentenced to life without parole on April 15, 1976. Mr. Watkins spent 41 Years, 8 months, and 1 day, wrongly imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. According to the National Registry of Exonerations, Mr. Watkins will be the longest serving wrongly convicted person in Michigan. During his lengthy incarceration, all of his immediate family passed away.
Over the course of his legal battle Mr. Watkins' innocence was based on a number of factors, but mostly a recantation/confession from the perpetrator that was withheld, a faulty hair comparison, and a violation of the Brady Rule (meaning vital evidence in support of his innocence was withheld at the time of his trial).
As we move forward, Mr. Watkins' most important goal is to find a way to live out his newly found life in a productive manner. This fund will substantially help in that effort.
Please donate today to support Mr. Watkins as he continues his journey and tells his story.
