Prosthetic leg for my husband
Donación protegida
My husband has lost his leg below the knee to a deep bone infection. He had medical coverage and a wonderful prostheses that made him a prosthetic leg. But right before his appointment to pick up his new leg he lost his medical coverage. So now he can't have his new leg unless we can figure out another way to pay for it.
This has been a very long ordeal for him. It started when he injured his back lifting weights. His l4 exploded and the doctors misdiagnosed the injury. Five month past before he could even get an MRI dore. Finally the injury was seen correctly. Scar tissue had already built up on his spine giving him neuropathy. The neuropathy made it so he could only feel a small protion of the left side of his lower body. He got a blister he could not feel on the bottom of his foot. That quickly turned into a big hole with cellulitis. The infection moved into the bone turning to osteomyelitis. After two years of trying to win the battle with the infection the doctors finally said it needed to be amputated. After healing from the amputation he started to work towards getting his new leg. He has always been very active his whole life so getting this leg is extreamly important to him. The prosthetist made him one that will fit his active lifestyle with a detached ankle so he would be able to walk on rough terrain like grass or even sandy beaches. Now that his medical coverage has been taken away the leg is just sitting at the prosthetists office waiting. I pray to god that we will be able to figure out a way to get him his leg still. Please help my husband walk again.
