Laura's college journey

Hi! It’s Laura Reid, and this fall I will be starting my first semester at Biola University, CA. I plan to study a mix between Intercultural studies and Education. Over the past 18 years of my life I have lived in England, South Korea, Nepal, and now for the first time I will live in America.

My identity as a Missionary Kid(MK), has given me many great experiences. My life has been a challenging yet epic journey. Living in different cultures has given me many new experiences, passions, languages and has taught me valuable lessons. Although at times it’s been dangerous and difficult, I know that God put me in this position now and looking back I can see just how much of an impression being an MK has made on my life. That’s why I can’t think of anything else better to do than to be a missionary myself. After seeing the need, the death, disaster, pain, destruction, and evil in this world how can I do anything else? There are so many people who have never heard of Jesus, knowing that how can I not go?  I hope that my degree will give me the necessary skills to become a teacher in a third world country. 

My goal is to be able to graduate with the minimal amount of debt.
